Why Tell Startup Stories?
Here are #Ventured we love telling startup stories. Across two season of the show we’ve produced 24 different episodes focussed on 24 different startups and their stories: How’d they get founded? What have they achieved? What was hard? And what did they learn?
The idea for the series has always been two fold: On one hand it acts as a form of documentation for what we’ve been doing here in the #StartupState.
On the other, we wanted to focus on the experience of startup life and shared learnings our participants could provide.
We like the think that each episode has a couple of key takeaways that can help the audience to either avoid the making the same mistakes or at least provide a guide to a solution.
There have been a couple of eps where the #CrushingIt humblebrag managed to sneak in - we are talking to people about startups after all - but on the whole we’d say that the first two seasons we’re pretty good and fulfilled our pro-social objectives.
The response to the series has been overwhelmingly positive and for that we can’t thank you enough. But we’ve taken the series about as far as we can alone and now we need your help.

How Can I Help?
A key component to #Ventured’s success is its exposure to a broader audience. While our Producer extraordinaire - Hugh Whitehouse - has some pretty big ideas what he’d like to do moving forward, none of that is achievable if we don’t reach a broader audience. So here’s how you can help in three simple steps:
Watch some episodes YOU'VE MISSED:
Out of the 24 episodes we’ve produced, how many have you really seen? Hell we could only name, like, 16 of them if push came to shove.
You can also head over to www.ventured.com.au to pick and choose eps if you'd like. They're all watching.
Share some eps with your friends:
You know what’s cool? Sharing stuff. We learned that in kindergarten when Mrs. B made us give the Tonka Truck to Lewis (even though he never gave it back again). If there’s an ep of #Ventured you like, share it with your friends via Facebook, Twitter, Ouija board - whatever.
Even better, if there’s a quote you like from the startup being featured, tweet that quote and @ them with the link. It'll make their day!
What About Funding or Sponsorship?
Currently all practical costs for #Ventured (transport, parking, coffee etc) are covered by that handsome idiot Hugh Whitehouse. We are very lucky that Lestrade Digital give the series in-kind support by providing all equipment as well as access to their post production suite. But there is a limit to what we’re able to do on a shoestring budget and, if we want to expand the scope into longer-form episodes or cover startups in rural and regional Queensland, we’re going to need some help.
If you or your organisation likes what we’ve been doing with #Ventured and would like to assist us though either financial support or sponsorship of the series, please drop us some details below and that aforementioned handsome idiot will get in touch with you.
